Let’s have some fun.

Black Mirror is one of the most important television shows of our time. I’m certain of it.

Just ask fans of the show and they will tell you it is more than science-fiction. Or, some twisted, darkly fantasy. It is surely those things. But, Black Mirror is also the best portrayal of what our nation’s current social transformation looks like if we could step outside of our daily perspectives. I’ve never seen a television show hold up the mirror to its audience quite like this.

It is not demonic. It is not horror. But, it is horrifying. I know, it doesn’t make sense. Stay with me for a minute.

Black Mirror is a satire on steroids with a Delta-9 gummy kicker. Each riveting episode requires some suspension of disbelief, but the themes and concepts are so rich and relevant that they pull you in. And, the quality of actors and storylines are strong enough to keep you leaning in.

The series began in 2011 and stopped with five seasons four years ago. We were surprised to learn of a 6th season — in the midst of a writer’s strike, no less — released within the past few days.
